As promised here it is, and YES, it's a giveaway!! I will give all the
details below after I get to what you really came here for. This apron has been one of my
favs to make in this book. I actually made 8 of these for the boutiques I have been doing, and sold all but this one!! I changed a few things about this pattern. I didn't do the "funky, vintage, and/or coordinating buttons" to the sides where you attach the ties. I didn't think it was necessary since I felt they were purely for decoration. I also put pre-made bias tape around the apron instead of making hems. SO much easier, and made it much faster too. This pattern was super easy to follow, and gave really great instructions. I would TOTALLY make another one in the future....duh!!
Here is what you need.....
- One yard of fabric....any weight will do
- 2 funky, vintage, and/or coordinating buttons, any size (optional)
- A copy of "One Yard Wonders...101 Sewing Projects" by Rebecca Yaker & Patricia Hoskins
I know you are dying to find out how to win this little pretty....well, all you have to do is tell me who your favorite fabric designer is AND why. I will choose a winner by Wednesday, May 12th. Good luck to all my AMAZING and LOYAL followers!!
that came out so cute! Fav fabric designer? REALLY? JUST ONE???? hmmm ok, Anna Maria Horner, at the moment...
ReplyDeleteoh, I didn't tell you why.... I love her color combos!
ReplyDeleteRight now my favorite fabric designer is Alexander Henry. I am not new to sewing but have recently gotten back into it heavily. Alexander Henry fabric is so fun and original. I love the fun, colorful and funky designs! I even like it better than Saffron Craig, which is a bit out of my budget! Before I knew the name I was buying it in the store unintentionally. I am just drawn to it.
ReplyDeleteBy the way- the apron is really cute. Big fan of polka dots on anything!
Oooh, I really love this apron! I so admire your craftiness! I really have to say that my favorite fabric designer is Carina Gardner, since she's my sister in law...
ReplyDeleteWell, first I have to say that I love your Julie and Julia take on OYW! What a GREAT idea! I actually thought of doing a similar expedition, but I am not nearly proficient enough. It would take me three years :)! Second, to answer the required question, I absolutely agree with Ellyn! Anna Maria Horner is just awesome. I find that almost every bolt I pick out for projects turns out to be hers. I am drawn to the bold but country/vintage look of her print and color mixtures. How she blends those together makes for fabrics that not only look good as a smock or skirt but also as a table cloth or pillow. I love the versatility! Plus, it doesn't hurt that she lives in Nashville, just a hop, skip, and jump from where I grew up. :0p. PS. I've been following your posts on the Facebook group! Love your stuff!
ReplyDeleteI love the Amy Butler Fabrics --- they always make me smile.

Right now I'm crazy for Meadowsweet by Sandi Henderson and am working on collecting at least a yard of each flavor of the set. The designs are printed in beautiful creamy springy colors that are so beautiful in person. The fabric itself is a lovely cotton. You should get some!
ReplyDeleteIt's got to be Alexander Henry because of this Halloween fabric:

I couldn't have dreamed up a better fabric myself!
Love this apron! One favorite fabric designer? That's hard to choose! I'd have to say it's Anna Maria Horner, both the designs and color palettes are surprising and beautiful. Thanks for this giveaway.

Nice work on the apron!! I can't wait until you get to the lunch bag....I just finished it complete with lots of swearing. I'll blog about it shortly.
ReplyDeleteFavourite fabric designer is Heather Ross but right now my favourite fabric is the Neptune line by Tula Pink - SUCH great patterns and colours.
I am somewhat fickle...right now I am loving Alexander Henry (all) and Carolyn Gavin Wild Time. Their designs make me smile. Cute apron!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with Amy Butler and the new Joel Dewberry. I have a major fabric addiction, and love it all, but those are my favorites. Amy is so bright and cheerful. Joel is serene and earthy, especially his new set.
ReplyDeleteSo hard to choose just one! Today it is Anna Maria Horner. Love the pinks. Thanks for the giveaway!
